The Northeast Water Infrastructure Atlas identifies and details engineering solutions to ensure the water supply in the Northeast region and in the basins of the São Francisco, Pardo, Murici, and Jequitinhonha rivers in the State of Minas Gerais. In order to identify and propose technical alternatives for meeting the current and future demands for water by the urban population of the area, the studies conducted by TPF Engineering were split into two large blocks: an appraisal of the total water availability, and the design of engineering solutions for the problems. An analysis was therefore made for all the municipalities with over 5,000 inhabitants in the area concerned. New water sources were also identified to meet future demands, and a back-up water supply system was designed.
