Only 3% of Brazil’s fresh water is located in the Northeast. For this reason, the exploitation of the region’s entire water potential needs to be optimized. With this background, the Federal Government decided to install the Pajeú Water Pipeline, a water supply system to be fed by the East branch of the São Francisco River Transfer Project. TPF Engineering is responsible for supervising the installation of the system, which will include pipelines as long as 372 mi and 20 pumping stations, adding a total flow of 830 l/s. The pipeline will benefit some 500,000 inhabitants in 28 municipalities, 20 of which in the Sertão of Pernambuco, and eight in the State of Paraíba. The estimated total investment is of 500 million Reals.
