The aim of the Sustainable Development Plan of the Olho d’Água Lagoon, in Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Pernambuco, is to undertake the urban and territorial redevelopment of the surrounding area, including the implementation of an infrastructure for sanitation, transport, and leisure, thereby improving the quality of life of the local population. TPF Engineering’s participation in this venture included, in addition to general urban planning, the designing of projects in the areas of urbanization, water supply, land filling, paving, urban cleaning, control of pathological agents, and sewage, in addition to general urban planning. It also encompassed the planning of economic, social, environmental, organizational, legal, and institutional interventions. The area of the project covers 3.47 mi², directly benefiting a population of 34,566 people living in five different communities.
